8.15am, August 6th
1945. a new chapter in Japanese and world
history had begun; the nuclear age had arrived. It was an event we
had no control over, yet it has become a
"before-and-after"
moment in our history.
As with so many other things, the nuclear theory was developed
in the hopes that it would help bring people together, and
provide energy for people everywhere. But in this case it was
warped into a most destructive force.
It was used as if in an experiment, and the suffering caused
has rippled through generations.
It was a moment which stripped us all of part of our humanity.
We must acknowledge that, so that we may learn from it.
It was not a moment to be proud of. We all, as individuals,
have a responsibility to ask ourselves:
"What place do actions like that have in the world?"
Every dawn brings another day, and another chance to make a
difference.
